RHS and BHS STEM offer unique magnet experiences for students entering 9 th grade. Listed below are important dates if your 8 th grader is interested in applying to one of these magnet programs. Students can apply for both magnets and decide upon acceptance which one they prefer.
December- all 8th grade students will watch the RHS Magnet Video during Advisory
December- field trip permission slips are mailed home to 8th grade students
December 5-9- qualified students who are interested in learning about the Magnet programs must turn in their field trip permission forms to their junior high counselor by December 9.
January 13- RHS Magnet Connection Field trip for qualified 8th graders
January 17- Eagle Celebration-7:00 p.m. @ RHS- open house and information for students who plan on attending RHS and their parents
January 27- RHS Magnet Applications are due to the junior high counseling office
February 21-March 9- Magnet counselor will come to junior high to register magnet students

November 29- STEM information session for 8th graders- during school day @ Westwood

December 1- information regarding STEM and field trip permission forms will be mailed out to all 8th graders
December 7-9 - all interested students must return field trip permission forms
January 20 - STEM Field trip
January 23 - 6:30 p.m. 2 BHS STEM OPEN HOUSE and RAM NATION CELEBRATION
January 27- STEM applications due
February 17- notification of acceptance
April 26- incoming parent and student meeting @ 6:30pm

Eighth Graders - Please remember grades, attendance, and citizenship count for eligibility for the magnet field trip in January and enrollment in RHS magnets. The RHS Magnet Video will be shown in December during Advisory period and the Magnet Information & Field Trip Permission Slip will be mailed to your home address from RHS in December.
You may only apply to one magnet unless applying for Science. If you apply for two, ONE of them must be the Science Magnet.
Grade Requirements: Magnet applicants should have a minimum combined average of 80 in English, math, science and social studies classes. Quality points may be used to reach minimum averages. All magnet programs have additional grade requirements. Interviews are required for all magnets. Please see the magnet application for specific details.

ALL students wanting to enroll in a magnet at RHS must correctly complete an application. Please carefully read all material received from RHS. Deadlines are not flexible.
